Antoine Dodson is always right, extolling people to “hide yo wives, hide yo women and hide yo children”, because the weaker sex and vulnerable children are at risk of bed intruders and atrocities committed in broad daylight.
Angel was a young adult when she was seduced by a teen-aged boy named Karl. She was naïve, having lived all her life under a rock. Karl was the opposite, being a street smart, wild boy, who lived by his wits, uncontrollable even under the thumb of his mother.
Angel met her bed intruder in Karl.
Angel craved love and attention from her ideal boyfriend. She was unschooled in the ways of the world. Nobody told her how to dress to attract the opposite sex and win the heart of a decent guy her age. Instead, Angel was left to her own devices, to dream about meeting her knight in shining armor, who would sweep her off her feet and set her up in a home of their own, to live happily ever after.
Angel’s family was from the old schooled, older generation who followed the basic rule of “hide yo wives, hide yo women and hide yo children”. However, they neglected to take into consideration that they couldn’t hide them forever. Angel had to face the world when she started working in her job.
Coming from a broken home, Angel had so many disadvantages working against her. She grew up with practically little to zilch parental guidance from her father, a non-recovering psychological reclusive man. Angel knew she was like a frog living in a well. She hoped to meet her prince who would kiss her and turn her life around in a fairy tale romance.
But no, Angel was to experience a shattering episode in her life that would destroy her credibility with an already narrowed view of the horizon, seen through a periscope trained on the poor sights of a bigger negativity.
Karl met Angel at his high school. She was a relief teacher, filling in for an absentee teacher. He was a terror in class and made discipline a challenge for his teachers. Poor Angel. She never should have applied for the temp job. Instead of being a teacher, her students taught her the ethics of street behavior.
Karl was physically big in build for his age. Wee only in years, he had already developed a swagger and defiant attitude. He knew persistence and insistence, or downright bullying, could get what he wanted. He wrapped the wimpy around his little finger and gloated about his victories to his fellow minions.
To be continued.
