Do ghosts drink (photo)? Stories Fiction Books

wine bottle & glass

There were ghost stories in Briarhurst Manor’s ghost stories tribute page. Briarhurst Manor is in Manitou, in Colorado, USA.

One story said that sometimes wine glasses appeared in the Briarhurst Manor and sometimes, the glasses disappeared. Along with the mysterious sightings, wine bottles may also occasionally disappear. Do ghosts drink? According to the witness account, ghosts do drink from wine bottles using wine glasses.

I have another true story for the collection of Stories Fiction Books. This story is similar to the one on ghosts drinking from the human’s stock of liquid quenchers.

Whenever there is a death or sudden death, people leave memorials at the scene. These memorials are different materials ranging from flowers, cards, soft toys, balloons to almost everything imaginable. Candy and edibles may also be left at the spot.

When someone starts leaving a tribute, others follow suit and sometimes, a mountain of memorials aggregate. What happens to these mementos? The family of the deceased may bring home some of these memorials, all of them, or none at all. What do they do with these memorial tributes? They display them at home as a pilgrimage to honor their loved one. Sometimes, the items are relocated to the grave site and left there.

What happens to the edibles left out in the open? Do the hungry ever feel tempted to partake in the feast? Of course, it is morally wrong to steal the food meant for another person. But what if the person is dead and wouldn’t be touching the physical vittles? Does it make sense to eat the food rather than let it go to waste? It is a sign of disrespect for the dead but what if the consumer is homeless and almost dying of hunger? Does that justify the use of the food?

David was a drifter who enjoyed his transient life style. He scavenged for food and got by each day. On some days, he had more than enough and he stored the rest for the next day.

One day, David came by a memorial site. Some people had set up a makeshift memorial to pay respects to a dead person. There were flowers, soft toys, balloon and chocolates. Not the cheap kind but the expensive type.

David was tempted to steal the chocolates. He had not seen such seductive, savory sweets. Sugar would give him a high and lull him to sleep under the harsh, cold night sky. David stole a quick glance around. There was no one on the street. Not a soul in sight on this afternoon. The windows of the buildings were empty. No one was looking at David.

As David reached out to grab the box of chocolates, he was stopped in mid-air. A short distance away was a milk bottle, half filled with a white fluid which was presumed to be milk. As David stared at the bottle, the liquid seemed to be decanted slowly. The bottle looked like it was losing its contents.

There must be a leak somewhere at the bottom of the milk bottle. David’s curiosity was aroused and he had to find out if he was correct in his guess. David lifted the bottle but there was no liquid leaking out of it. To his consternation, the level of the liquid was lowering at a steady rate. There simply was no logical explanation on why the milk was disappearing.

David was really spooked. He resolved not to touch the chocolates at the memorial site. He took off as fast as his legs could carry him.

Why was the milk disappearing from the bottle? Was there a ghost drinking from the milk bottle? David had no answers but resolved never to touch stuff from memorial sites again.
