Have you heard a ghost scream? Have you read stories or fiction books about being awakened by a ghost?
On Saturday night, I was awakened by a voice. I heard an animated female voice scream that was eerie and out of this world. I couldn’t explain it but it sounded different and inhuman. My instincts kicked in even as I was half awake. Something stirred inside me. Although I was not scared, I knew it was time to wake up.
Who was speaking to me? Why was a female voice talking to me? For the life of me, I couldn’t remember the exact words or what message she was trying to convey. She was making some sounds that sounded like language but I didn’t understand her sounds.
Was she a ghost, poltergeist or alien? I had read about the aliens, allegedly in Nome, Alaska. The aliens abducted humans mysteriously during the night. My heart was beating fast. Was I being targeted by a female alien who woke me up with her voice? If the voice I heard belonged to an alien, then why would she want to awaken me to capture me? Surely she could abduct me while I was asleep and defenseless.
When I woke up, her voice stopped speaking and no one was in the room. That was how I concluded it must have been but a dream. If she were a ghost, she would have remained in front of me when I awoke.
I went to the bathroom. I heard more voices. This time, there was no mistaking of the hushed tones of human voices conversing in the dead stillness of the night.
When I looked out of my window, I saw a group of people seated around the round table at the corner of the public walkway just outside my apartment building. I glanced at my clock in the hall and it showed 3:30 am. The people outside were having an all night bender. I guessed they must have missed the last bus home and were waiting until daybreak to get home.
The speakers talked in low voices, mindful of disturbing the peace of the neighborhood. They did not appear intoxicated or they would have been boisterous. Besides, beer money would have been tight in this economy.
Were the human voices the source of sounds that awoke me? No, I was positive of that. The supernatural and human have different voice ranges.
Why did the voice wake me up? Was she a harbinger of bad news? Or was she a soul who needed prayers at the bewitching hour? It has been a few days since she last visited my dream. I have not experienced any bad news or anything traumatic. I guess she came to ask for prayers.
