How much for a hair cut? Stories Fiction Books

How much money do you pay for a hair cut? When was your last hair cut? Did the cost of your hair cut raise from the previous time you visited a hair saloon? I went to a hairdresser at a saloon near my neighborhood. I had only had my hair cut just once at this saloon. It cost me $25. That was a haircut about a year ago.

I didn’t notice how time flew past and that one year had passed until I got irritated by my long hair. I washed my hair and went to the same saloon I had patronized one year back.

The receptionist asked me if I wanted to request for a specific hair dresser. I told her I didn’t mind, anyone could do the job for me. She muttered some name and magically, a lady came up to me from behind one of the partitions in the saloon. She introduced herself to me as my hairdresser for the day. Her name was Hada. She drew up a seat for me and ta da!

Another lady came up to me from somewhere inside the saloon, to offer me a cup of tea, served in a cup, covered by a lid. I had reservations on drinking tea from cups washed in the ladies restroom without proper dish-washing facilities so I declined to partake any sip.

Hada asked me how I would like my hair to be cut. I told her straight; just chop off the length of it. Hada asked me at what length I wanted my hair. She clarified by asking me if I wanted to let enough locks to remain for a pony tail. I told her no. She soon got to work by wetting my hair and cutting it off. I didn’t even regret trimming it all off.

We made small talk about hair and how long to wait out the new growth before returning for a maintenance. Hada said slow hair growth would mean a hair style’s “life” could be extended to two and a half months.

There! I had a rough estimate when I would be needing trip to the hairdresser’s. Hada was soon done and she teased and blew my hair with the dryer to check for an even length overall. A slight fine tuning was done and fine wisps of hair fell down my protective apron.

Hada brought out a large, hand held mirror to show me my hair at the back of my head. There were no unexpected results. My hair cut was over.

I opened my purse to pay up. I saw my bill and had a little shock. Inflation had jacked up my old bill. My hair cut now cost me $37 and not $25. I kept quiet and tried not to let my feelings show. Thirty seven dollars for a simple hair cut. That’s how much inflation has rocketed the cost of my hair cut.
